Not needing evidence to convict someone does not sound like something this country endorses but apparently the RIAA and MPAA don’t care. The UW’s department of Computer Science and Engineering started a study on how piracy information is collected and why DMCA (download music legally warnings) are sent to who they are. 
A huge music piracy bust went down in Cleveland, Ohio today after the Westlake police raided a home and grocery store seizing vehicles (BMW 650), 500,000 in cash and counterfeit CDs. The RIAA partnered up the local police to orchestrate the seizure. I have a feeling that a majority of that cash came from the registers and safe of the grocery store targeted by the police. 
It has only been in the last few months that I have been the owner of an MP3 player and so learning how to download music legally has been a new priority for me. I want to make sure that the songs that I have are legally available and that artists that have written and performed these versions are compensated for the sale of their song on the internet.
